Falafel
Chickpeas or Lentil

from lentil

1     cup lentil

1     teaspoon cumin

½     large onion, diced

2     tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

2     tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped (may be substituted w/ additional parsley)

1     teaspoon of hot pepper

3     cloves garlic, chopped

4     tablespoons burghul (cracked wheat)

1     teaspoon baking powder

 

vegetable oil for deep frying (not needed if baking instead of deep frying)

or from chickpeas

1 cup dry chickpeas

1 large bunch parsley

½ green hot pepper

1 large onion

7 clove garlic

1 TBL raw tahini

2 teaspoon olive oil

2 teaspoon salt

3 teaspoon cumin

¼ cup water

 

Yield 45 patties

 

Combine all ingredients, refrigerate for at least two hours

Form 1" patties

 

Deep fry in very hot oil or bake to golden brown
